Extra Bright

If you live anywhere near Los Angeles, you probably know about Chris Burden's outdoor exhibit "Urban Light," located right outside the Los Angeles County Museum of Arts (LACMA). Or you probably remember it from that one scene in No Strings Attached. Anyway, I just found out about twenty minutes ago (when I Googled it) that Burden collected and restored every one of these bad boys. Each light is said to have lit the streets of LA in the earlier days. If you haven't been here before, I recommend going on a weeknight when parking is plenty and free (especially across the street, by the Variety building). This place is great for dates (Ray's and Stark Bar right behind it--both of which I still need to try), for taking Facebook photos of yourself (default status, def), or even just to loiter when you're broke and in college. Btw, this song will pop into your head when you're there, guaranteed..

On the way back to my car, I got a chance to take a peek into the Craft and Folk Art Museum across the street (which apparently is also a store). I absolutely love the knitted display in the window..

I've really been meaning to check this place out ever since I saw a bunch of hipsters doing arts and crafts in the patio area over the holidays. This is my official promise to do so. I'll report back ASAP.

  2. Ahh I love your blog, its almost like you are sitting here talking to me :) I definitely know those lights but I did not know that they used to light up the city of LA and I also didn't know they look so beautiful at night. I will have to return sometime to check it out. MAYBE ON A DATE WITH YOU?!
