As of Late

Easter eggs filled with candy and money! There were only four kids this year for our annual egg hunt, which meant plenty of candy for everyone (aka me). / My mini arm party c/o of JewelMint (Friendship Bracelets) and Brandy Melville (evil eye bracelet). I can wear these with everything! / Turkey burger with jalapeno jam, lettuce, tomato, and avocado from 3 Square Cafe on Abbot Kinney. Def going back for more! / I call this my Rebirth photo from the Santa Barbara Zoo. I'm cute, I know. / Lola, the chubster pup of the office. She's so sweet! / The dock at Fairmount Park in Riverside. This shot totally reminds me of Vada Sultenfuss and Thomas J. in My Girl. / Jared made me dinner for the first time! He made an intense omelet, followed by a delicious pulled pork quesadilla right after. Yum! / This weather has been really confusing. Therefore, I will continue to consume adorable lattes until LA gets it together.

Gjelina

For the past couple of months, I have been overhearing some of my co-workers rant and rave about some restaurant in Venice called Gjelina. While I was nervous that they had hyped up the place, I was pleasantly surprised when my sister and I came here for dinner the other night. Yes, there were hipsters galore, but the food was delish! I apologize in advance for the terrible shadow in my food shots. Hipsters don't like a lot of light, so I tried to keep my picture taking at a minimum.

First up was the crispy carola potatoes with pickled red onion, horseradish, dill, and lemon aioli. You really can't go wrong with potatoes like, ever.

Next up was the maitake mushroom toast with creme fraiche and truffle oil. Honestly, I could've had three of these and I would have been satisfied. So rich and flavorful! Plus, I'm obsessed with mushrooms (not shrooms).

Lastly, my sister and I shared the duck sausage, nameko mushroom, mozzarella, and garlic pizza. Chill out, guys, duck isn't that cray. In fact, it just tasted like plain old sausage to me. Not amazing, but still pretty good!

The grand finale of this epic meal was dessert: butterscotch pot de creme with salted caramel and creme fraiche. Cue tears of joy now. 

This dessert was essentially a fancy butterscotch pudding, but I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing it was. If after every bad day I could come home to this, my life would be complete. I'll definitely be dining at Gjelina again soon for this dessert alone. And I'm not sharing next time.
